A young boy from Skye paid a special visit to Raigmore Hospital’s Special Care Baby Unit this week to say ‘thank you’ for looking after him two years ago.
Two-year-old Alexander Mackenzie visited the unit with mum and dad Megan and Alan to say a big thank you to all the staff for the care he had received when he was born two months early. In addition, the family handed over a donation of £3,230 which was raised through a ceilidh fundraiser and raffle. These events raised a total of £4,230 with £1,000 going towards the Ronald McDonald House in Glasgow where the family spent two weeks while Alexander had shunt surgery.
Staff midwife Jane Elliot was on hand to accept the donation. She said: “It was great to see Alexander again. We are so fortunate as a unit that so many of our former patients come by to say hello.
“This is a fantastic sum of money which has been donated to the unit. We are very grateful to them for thinking of us and we really can’t thank them enough.”
