Stroke support group meeting in Portree

Skye Stroke Friends is a new community stroke group which will host an open day in Tigh Na Drochaid Resource Centre in Portree this Wednesday (18th November) from 1pm-3pm.

Affiliated to Chest Heart and Stroke Scotland, but member led and organised, this is one of over 85 community stroke groups across Scotland which respond to local needs by providing a variety of activities from singing groups to specialist exercise for those recovering from stroke.

CHSS Community Support Worker Caroline Peter says “Stroke is the major cause of disability throughout Scottish communities and in the Skye, Lochaber and Badenoch area over 1,800 people are living with the effects of this condition.

The group’s activities will develop based on what the members’ interests are but can expect to be tea, chat, games and quizzes along with support and health information provided.”
