Search resumes off Skye for missing man

Searches resumed on Monday morning for a missing man, Andrew Gordon (54), who was last seen near the shoreline at Kyleakin, beneath the Skye Bridge.

Andrew (pictured) is from East Lothian and was last spoken to at around 8.45am on Sunday. He was attending the ‘Twisted Pistons — Shoot the Goose’ bikers’ rally at Kyleakin hall. He was last seen wearing grey combat-style trousers and a ‘Guns & Roses’ hooded top. He is described as being six foot tall, of muscular build, has short shaved brown hair and a beard.

Assisting local officers with the search today (Monday) are HM Coastguard, British Red Cross, RNLI Lifeboats, Search and Rescue Dog Association Scotland, and Police Scotland’s dog unit. Officers from the Police Scotland’s Dive and Marine Unit were expected to arrive later today.

As part of ongoing searches, partner agencies will look to cover the Kyleakin shoreline and other local coastal areas.

Andrew’s family have issued the following statement: “We are extremely grateful to members of the emergency services, search and rescue personnel and members of the local community who have been helping in the search for Andrew since Sunday afternoon. “We’d like to appeal to anyone who saw Andrew or spoke to him on Sunday to please get in touch with the police on 101. Any information, no matter how insignificant it may seem, may assist in bringing Andrew home to us.”
