A Skye woman is celebrating after scooping a £20,000 dream holiday through a national competition run by Irn Bru.
As Rhona Mackay from Sleat enjoyed the soft drink during a break at work last week she entered a Bru-Planet competition code online and was surprised to see she had won a prize. However, she had no idea she had in fact won the top prize of an all-expenses paid trip anywhere in the world, worth £20,000.
The 21-year-old, who works at Sabhal Mòr Ostaig, said: “I never in a million years thought I’d end up winning – but look at me now. I am buzzing!”
Rhona has decided she will visit Dolly Parton’s Dollywood in Tennessee, having been a lifelong fan of the singer she saw in concert in Glasgow last year.
She said: “I have been a big fan since I was wee and went to see her with a pal, so we will go together — and probably my parents, as we will need someone to save us from getting lost!”
Irn-Bru head of marketing Adrian Troy said: “Bru-Planet is the biggest on pack promotion that Irn-Bru has ever offered. It’s great to hear that Rhona is so excited about her trip of a lifetime and we’re sure she’ll have an amazing time. We’ll make sure she has a few cans of Irn-Bru for her suitcase just in case she misses home.”
