Stornoway Port Authority have announced the appointment of a new harbourmaster.
Tony Morrison of Sandwick, a marine engineer and deputy cox on the Stornoway lifeboat, has spent most of his working life around the harbour and has many years of experience in dealing with a significant number of the port authority’s customers and stakeholders.
Mr Morrison’s appointment follows the resignation of the previous harbourmaster, Peter Read, late last year. The then Stornoway Port Authority chairman Angus Smith and chief executive Jane MacIver also stepped down amid mounting controvery over the performance of the SPA.
Stornoway Port Authority chairman Captain Robert J M Frater said he was delighted that Mr Morrison had accepted the position and he and the board very much looked forward to working with him as part of the team at Stornoway Harbour.
