Photographer to exhibit work at Scottish festival

Photographs by a man with Uist links is set to be exhibited at a prestigious exhibition in Edinburgh.

Port Glasgow-based CJ Monk, whose father Fergus is from Creagorry on Benbecula, has been invited to exhibit work at the Retina Scottish International Photographic Festival. The show opens on 24th June and will showcases the cream of international photography as well as shining a light on emerging talent, with work by over 50 international and national photographers. CJ’s work will be on display between 11th and 30th July.

CJ Monk only started photography three years ago

CJ, who only started taking photos three years ago, said: “The Hebrides has provided inspiration and partly helped mould my photographic style. Benbecula is very special to me, it’s where my father grew up so I feel a strong emotional connection.

“The Retina Scottish International Photographic Festival is a fantastic opportunity to share my work with a wider audience. I am delighted to be exhibiting alongside such high-profile international photographers.”
