Council investigate parking problems at Fairy Pools

A meeting of the Skye and Lochalsh access forum last week heard concerns regarding facilities at the scenic Fairy Pools near Glenbrittle.

Last Friday’s meeting heard an inquiry from the Minginish Community Council regarding the lack of parking, toilet facilities and related problems at the Fairy Pools car park. The site has become a beacon for tourists in recent years.

The access forum heard that work to widen the path – reflecting the greater number of visitors – was completed earlier this year and that a study commissioned by Highland Council was currently looking at ways to alleviate parking problems.

The meeting also heard concerns about a padlocked gate at the start of the new access tracks from Broadford to Loch Lonachen and Loch Buidhe. However, it was reported that Scottish Water had since installed a pedestrian side gate.

An issue over a locked field gate at the start of the new track to a wind turbine at Sumardale in the Edinbane area had also been resolved after the landowner installed a stile.
