In the 13-18 age-group the Harris school’s senior choir won competitions for Unison singing and Puirt-a-beul. They also won the Archie M Beaton trophy for gaining the highest marks across three choral competitions, as well as the Heather K Moore Cup for music. In the under-13 age group the Sir E Scott juniors won the Mrs Ann Grant of Laggan Memorial Trophy for singing a two-part harmony.
Also celebrating were the Nicolson Institute senior choir which won two trophies in the two-part harmony competition.
There was singing success for brother and sister Ross and Isla MacLeod from Portree, while the An Comunn Gàidhealach Silver Medals were won by Dòmhnall Lachlan Peutan from Tain, and Emily Robertson from Airdrie.
A total of 37 junior competitions took place throughout Tuesday, and the junior Mòd extends into Wednesday with several more oral and literary competitions still to take place.
