Kyleakin was bathed in bright sunshine for most of last Saturday as the village held its annual gala day celebrations.
The events attracted a good crowd throughout, starting off on Friday night with a dance to local band the Brass Monkees.
On Saturday proceedings began with the Skye Bridge 10k and fun run, and there was a novel range of attractions to enjoy — including axe throwing, tug o’ war, bouncy castles and a six-metre-high mobile climbing wall which proved especially popular with youngsters. Events were rounded off in lively style on Saturday evening with a busy dance to Box O’ Bananas.
The gala is held each year to raise money which is divided among a number of local organisations and clubs. The long-serving committee which had organised the gala for many years stood down after the 2014 event, but a new group of volunteers stepped in to make sure the event continued this year.
Kyleakin Gala chairman David Butcher said: “The weekend was a huge success, and that was down to the hard work of so many volunteers who gave their time to make things happen. Special thanks must go to the previous committee for all their help and continued support.”
