Skye woman marks 102nd birthday

A Skye woman celebrated her 102nd birthday last week, putting her longevity down to “an honest, hard day’s work and plenty of butter and salt”.

Morag MacDonald from Tarskavaig celebrated the milestone on 30th July with a gathering of friends and family at An Acarsaid in Broadford, where she is currently staying for two weeks of respite care. She normally lives with family in Tarskavaig.

Sleat Community Council sent a bouquet of flowers to Mrs MacDonald to mark the occasion.

Mrs MacDonald lived for many years in Glasgow before returning to Skye and is in very good health, something her grandson Neil said she puts down to “an honest, hard day’s work and plenty of butter and salt”.
