Musicians of all levels are being invited to attend the upcoming Rick Taylor Ensemble week, to be held this year in Kyle of Lochalsh.
Taking place in Kyle Hall from Monday 13th to Friday 17th April, the third annual event concludes with a concert on the last day.
The ensemble week provides a unique opportunity for players of all levels and disciplines to come together and create the kind of music only a large ensemble can truly produce, led by respected musician and composer Rick Taylor. Participants do not need to be able to read music and players of more than one instrument are encouraged to bring and play as many as they wish.
Throughout the week guest musicians and tutors from all musical backgrounds will share their expertise — including vocal coach and choir leader Laura Taylor, who returns to run her popular singing workshops. Again, there is no need to be able to read music to enjoy the workshops.
In addition, any accordion or concertina players keen to attend are reminded that a free place is available on the course for these instruments, with the cost covered by proceeds from the CD ‘Together’. The CD was produced by Sleat couple Paddy Bonnett and Vivian MacDonald after Paddy took part in a previous ensemble week, playing his concertina in public for the first time, at the age of 79. Sadly Paddy died before seeing the CD released.
