Independence campaign takes to sea with launch of ‘Yes Yacht’

The campaign for an independent Scotland takes to the sea next week when a ‘Yes Yacht’ launches off Skye.

From Saturday 23rd August the yacht will ply the waters around Skye with a radio station dedicated to promoting the Yes campaign locally. The yacht will be open to visitors who wish to share their views on air or simply to enjoy food and drink on board, with a menu available from the King Haakon Bar, which has been announced as Kyleakin’s Yes pub.

The launch party will also be held at the Haakon, from 2pm til 6pm-ish, with live music and food stalls as well as a Yes information stand.

After the launch the yacht will visit various ports around Skye and Lochalsh and any coastal events taking place around the island may book the yacht for the occasion.

The yacht is owned by the Isle of Skye Boat Builders, who have spent the last few months restoring the vessel to working order, and went into the water for the first time this week.
