A travel blogger from Lewis is the only entry from Scotland in her category in this year’s blog awards run by women’s magazine ‘Cosmopolitan’.
Katie MacLeod (26) from Point got into blogging in 2011 when she worked in China for a year teaching English for the British Council.
She said: “I started as a way of keeping people up-to-date with what I was doing in China, then I thought I would carry it on in a different way. It is has really taken off over the last year or so.”
Voting in the ‘Cosmopolitan’ blog awards closes on 29th August and if you want to vote for Katie’s blog ‘Stories My Suitcase Could Tell’ go to www.cosmopolitan.co.uk/blogs/cosmo-blog-awards-2014/ cosmo-blog-awards-2014-shortlist. There are two other Scottish finalists, from Glasgow, in the food category.
Last year Katie, who works for an events magazine in Stornoway as a feature writer, won a holiday to Kenya last year as a result of winning the Holiday Hypermarket Travel Awards, and a trip to Paris, also in 2013, through winning the Black Tomato award.
She is pictured in New York in November of last year. Last year’s winner of the Cosmopolitan travel blog award went on to secure a book deal, and Katie said she might consider that as an avenue if she was lucky enough to win.
Her next blog entries will be on a recent trip to St Kilda and further instalments of her Kenyan adventures. See for yourself on storiesmysuitcasecouldtell.com.
