Struan Gala draws the crowds

Struan’s Community Gala has raised almost £3,000, with a huge turnout enjoying the various attractions on offer.

Held recently at The Green, the gala was the best-supported since the event was resurrected in 2011 with young and old alike enjoying the stalls, games and activities – including unlimited free access to the bouncy castles – while two displays by The Clan, Scotland’s cycle stunt team, were a huge draw.

There was also a display of vintage vehicles by the Skye Wheelnuts and the Wheel of Fortune was as popular as ever, while all 2,000 tickets for the raffle draw sold out in the early afternoon.

Tegan MacKenzie was crowned Gala Queen and Peggy Waper “Glamorous Gran” while the Bonny Baby award went to Glen Morrison and Jessica Jackson won the chopstick challenge.

With the day drawing to a close, a small army of people set about dismantling the site so that by 6pm The Green was back to normal. Thanks are extended to everyone who helped the gala committee on the day,  the local businesses who supported the event and Struan Community Trust for their financial support.
