Sports day fun for Loch Duich and Auchtertyre schools

The primary schools of Auchtertyre and Loch Duich took inspiration from this year’s Glasgow Commonwealth Games during their recent joint sports day.

The mini games saw 12 teams taking part representing the nations of Jamaica, Kenya, India, Pakistan, the Bahamas, Mozambique, Papua New Guinea, Cameroon, South Africa, Malaysia, New Zealand and Canada.

After the opening ceremony, wonderfully played on the bagpipes, the team captains led their nations through a host of track and field and team challenge events, including the tug-of-war and beat the goalie.

With the youngest competitors aged three, fun was more important than endurance, but lots of cake, sandwiches and juice helped the athletes, staff and spectators through to the prizegiving ceremony.
