Skye sailor completes Land’s End to John O’Groats cycle

Skye man John Lawrence Sheedy from Kyleakin was one of eight servicemen on the submarine HMS ‘Vanguard’ who cycled from Land’s End to John O’Groats for charity.

The group set off on 9th June from Land’s End and arrived at John O’Groats on 19th June after cycling 933 miles.

The charities to benefit are the Soldiers and Sailors Families Association and the Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity. Both of these offer practical, emotional and financial support enabling serving and former personnel and their families to have a better quality of life. Altogther the group have raised over £3,000 so far.

John Lawrence (second left) was also doing the cycle in aid of the Scottish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals and has so far raised £440.
