A new footbridge crossing the Leasgeary River in Portree was formerly opened by Skye councillor Drew Millar this week.
The original bridge was badly damaged when a large branch was swept down the river during gales earlier this year. As the structure had been repaired many times before, mainly due to vandalism, it was decided to construct a new footbridge with only the main beams of the original structure reused.
Work on the new footbridge was carried out by Skye Conservation over the last two months and
Councillor Millar officially opened the bridge on Tuesday. He said: “I’m delighted to see the
new bridge in place, which enhances the walk through an idyllic setting for locals and visitors alike.”
