Applecross pit stop for Scottish racing legend

Racing legend Sir Jackie Stewart visited Applecross this week as part of the annual outing of members of Ecurie Ecosse.

Motor racing team Ecurie Ecosse was  founded in 1952 and counted drivers including Sir Jackie and his elder brother Jimmy amongst its ranks. The team won the 24-hours Le Mans race in 1956 and 1957.

As part of their annual trip to the Highlands, members of Ecurie Ecosse – including Sir Jackie and the Duke of Kent – visited Eilean Donan Castle in Lochalsh. They also stopped in Applecross where they enjoyed a seafood buffet at the Walled Garden restaurant, parking their fleet of classic cars outside.
