Niall Inglis and Ross Campbell from Dunvegan on Skye were the highest-placed local drivers at last Sunday’s Snowman Rally near Inverness.
The pair finished 39th out of 74 in a Vauxhall Nova RWD. Fellow Skyemen John MacLeod and Iain Mutch, from Skeabost Bridge and Uig respectively, finished 41st and first in class in their Ford Focus.
Sponsored by MRG Scotland, John O’Kane and George Finlayson from Kyle/Inverness finished 64th in their Ford Escort Mk 2. Paddy Munro and Chris Munro from Glenshiel/Portree — sponsored by C&M Builders — finished 71st in their Ford Escort Mk 2.
The Kenny’s Garage duo of Kenny Munro and Peter Munro from Ose/Carbost on Skye withdrew at stage five when their Vauxhall Corsa suffered a damaged suspension, while the Opal Manta of Sandy Mackenzie and Martin Fraser of Balmacara/Glenshiel blew a cylinder head gasket on the third stage.
The event was won by Euan Thorburn and Paul Beaton of Duns/Inverness in their Ford Focus.
