Sweet sound of success for Portree pupils

Strings instructor Laura Harrington is pictured with some of the Portree Primary School pupils who have successfully completed a London College of Music examination. She recently put 49 children from all over Skye and Lochalsh through the exams.

“Last month,” Ms Harrington said, “the Chief Examiner for the London College of Music, Philip Aldred, flew up from London to take part in two days of traditional music exams. All of the children that took the exam passed with flying colours.  With the opening of the new LCM Centre in Skye, it means pupils of all different instruments can now have the opportunity to partake in grades, and not have to travel to Inverness to do them.”
