Shiel young guns edge out seniors

Kinlochshiel Shinty Club had their first outing of the year on Saturday, when the club’s players came together for an under-25 versus over-25 challenge match which the younger side won 2-0.

Played at the high school pitch in Plockton, the match was a hard slog in dreadful conditions but gave the players a good workout despite the boggy ptich.

The goals were scored by Conall Fraser and Neil Fraser, the latter having returned to Shiel after a spell with Lochbroom.

Kinlochshiel’s first team are due to play Oban Camanachd at Mossfield in a pre-season friendly this Saturday before opening their 2014 Premiership campaign with an away match against Glenurquhart. The Shiel reserve side’s friendly against Lochcarron — scheduled for Saturday — has been cancelled, but the two sides will meet in earnest on the opening day of the season – Saturday 1st March – at Kirkton.
