A Skye woman has been charged with the murder of her husband.
Sandra Elizabeth Bruce (59) from the Isle of Skye appeared in private at Inverness Sheriff Court on Thursday, charged with the murder of Norman Bruce (64), whose body was discovered at his home in Breakish last Sunday.
Mrs Bruce, who made no plea or declaration, was remanded in custody and committed for further examination.
Police have been maintaining a presence at a house in Upper Breakish since Sunday afternoon.
Former workmates described Mr Bruce as a “trusted colleague”, who had a lengthy career with the Scottish Ambulance Service.
Mr Bruce had family connections with the north end of the island and settled in Breakish after moving from Kilmarnock — where he also worked for the ambulance service — in 1991. He was employed by the ambulance service in south Skye for two decades, working in accident and emergency, and latterly on patient transport vehicles. After retirement he had worked at the former Hilton care home in Broadford, and at the Co-op in Kyle of Lochalsh.
