Drum fun at Sleat primary

Just before the Christmas break, pupils at Sleat Primary School in Skye were able to enjoy a hands-on experience of West African drums and Brazilian Samba drums.

The treat came when Steve Sharpe of Drumfun visited the school. The Moray-based organisation has been delivering high-energy drumming workshops to schools throughout Scotland since 2000, and Sleat Primary has been a regular participant in the colourful musical extravaganza.

Steve encourages the whole school, including staff, to get involved and as our photographs illustrate it is clearly a fantastic way of experiencing the traditional African culture of the drums.
