Colin Fraser has been named as the new first-team manager for Kinlochshiel Shinty Club.
He will be assisted by goalkeeper Scott Kennedy.
The appointments were confirmed at last Friday’s annual general meeting of Kinlochshiel Shinty Club, which was attended by at least 25 people.
With Fraser stepping up to head the first team, the reserve squad are currently without a manager but it is hoped this post will be filled in January.
It was agreed at the meeting to apply for charity status for the club, bringing it in line with Kinlochshiel Junior Shinty Club – already a registered charity – and the club’s limited company, which has applied for charity status.
Biz Campbell was re-elected as club president, John Don MacKenzie as vice-president, John MacDougall as treasurer, Alice MacRae as secretary – with Katherine Loades as assistant – and Duncan MacLeod as fixtures secretary.
The meeting heard that an application for funding towards the creation of a new pitch at Reraig will be submitted to SportScotland shortly. In addition the club has been remembered in the legacies of two supporters who died last year – John Clamp and Leslie Rush – with the amount to be received tied up in properties which are currently for sale.
Thanks were extended to everyone who has supported the club both at junior and senior level. Particular mention was given to retiring first-team manager Johnston Gill and to Angela Gill and Katherine Loades, who have now stepped down from the fundraising committee.
