Goalkeeper Kennedy lands a double triumph at Kinlochshiel awards bash

Goalkeeper Scott Kennedy picked up two prizes as Kinlochshiel Shinty Club drew their season to a close with their annual dinner dance and awards last Saturday.

The well attended night at Dornie Hall saw the long-serving Kennedy (pictured back left) presented with the Kenny Wilson MacRae Cup for the committee player of the year. He was also named as the joint first team players’ player of the year, sharing the honour with Gordy MacDonald (bottom left). MacDonald was a prolific scorer for the side during the early part of their 2013 campaign, before the recurrence of a knee injury brought his playing season to a premature end. The duo lifted the Duncan MacRae Cup.

The award for the second team players’ player of the year, the Tommy MacKenzie Cup, was also shared. Colin MacDiarmid (back row, second from the right) and current captain Ewan Falconer  (back right) were jointly honoured by their team mates.

Two teenagers who have turned in impressive performances at both club and representative level were also honoured on the night. Oliver “Ach” MacRae, (bottom right) who featured in Scotland’s under 21 side, was named as the club’s under-21 player of the year and presented with the Ian Fraser Memorial Shield. Ali Nixon (back row, second from left), a double scorer for the north of Scotland under 17 squad in their win over the south, was named youth player of the year, taking home the Willie MacRae Memorial Cup.

Thanks were also extended to everyone who has supported the club throughout the year.
