Jamie is top sheep handler at age eight!

The average age of a West Highland crofter may now be 60, but one youngster from Skye seems to be doing his best to alter that statistic.

Jamie MacKinnon is just eight years old, but already he’s a common sight at the sheep sales in Portree. And the Struan youngster — who tends to his own small flock — highlighted his skills when he was named as the  champion junior handler at the annual show of North Country Cheviot hill sheep held at Lairg recently.

Jamie’s parents are John and Susan MacKinnon from Struan.
