New playpark opens in Edinbane

Despite appalling weather, a hardy group of over 70 people turned out last Saturday to officially open the new play park at Edinbane in north Skye.

With entertainment provided by local circus group “Cuillin Fools”, local primary school teacher Jackie Neil welcomed guests and unveiled the official commemoration board.

Edinbane Community Company director Billy Shanks thanked sponsors including SportScotland’s Legacy 2014 Active Places Fund, People’s Postcode Trust, Highland Council’s community landfill fund, Co-operative Communities Fund, Scottish Water, Vattenfall and the Edinbane Community Company.

Mr Shanks also thanked community company secretary Lisa Lamont for all her hard work completing applications to provide matching funding for the wind farm community benefit finance used to build the play park.
